Had to show you guys this neat pickup. I actually haven't seen it yet as my dad just picked it up today. We got it up from a collector friend of ours.

As you guys know, we collect RI brewery advertising.

Talk about skipping a heartbeat when you come across something that combines your two loves, beer and baseball.

Here's a very unusual scorekeeper from 1910. On one side, an markable scorekeeper with an awesome Narragansett advertisement. On the reverse, a 1910 schedule for the Providence Grays.

Of course, I'm ASSUMING this is for the Grays, I'm not 100% sure.

I have a 1911 "Facts for Fans" booklet which gives their 1911 schedule. A review of the 1910 statistics in this booklet reveals that the Grays finished dead last in their division in 1910.

Does anyone know where I can go to find a record of the 1910 season for the Grays so I can see if I have a match?

As most know, four years after this scorekeeper was made, some kid named Ruth (who was signed with the Red Sox at the time) would play a season for the Grays helping them win the title. I heard he went on to a pretty good career.

Good to see old Jimmy Collins again. Looks like they used his 1903 Red Sox photo for that collage. Great stuff.

By the way, does anyone know what the "official" relationship was between the Grays and the Sox during this time? I know they shipped the Babe down for his first season with the Sox after playing in only a game. To the best of my knowledge (I could certainly be wrong), the Grays weren't part of the Red Sox organization.

There was no official relationship between the clubs...players were bought and sold and minor league clubs were not "owned" by major league clubs or affiliated with them.

Hey, that's pretty eerie...looks like they could be related. I wonder if Rock was a Native American Indian?
