Old ticket stubs Pioneers
Posted By: Dave
Hello, I'm trying to figure out where this team is located. They played a game against it looks like an army team in 1918, So I think I can rule out High school or college. All stubs are dated between 1917 and 1920. Written on the back of one is oct 3 1920 won championship. The long ticket stub is probably Ct. They were part of an estate from CT with some items from mass. Thanks dave |

Old ticket stubs Pioneers

Pioneer valley is formed by the Connecticut River and is located in western Massachusetts. The regional name may also extend into CT as well. I'm not sure who the tickets are for specifically, but it is likely that they are from this small area. The two field day pamphlets are from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), which is largely an engineering college located in the same general area. There were (are?) some Army training grounds in the Western part of Massachusetts and Eastern New York for quite some time, perhaps that's what this team is? Interesting items. |
