Resisting T206--has anyone here done it successfully?

I have no desire to spend thousands amassing hundreds of common cards knowing that I cannot ever hope to finish the set because of the top 3-5 cards in it. I do collect the T206 HOFers and popular players because they are very attractive, as do many people.
