That really is a beautiful card. I really can't believe anyone associated with the Oaks thought for a minute Claxton was "Indian" and not "Negro" as they defined the terms at the time. It's just another reminder to me how baseball is a microcosm for our big, messy history, and that these little pieces of cardboard are important. Fun too! Thanks again for sharing. |
