I believe the matter was only resolved when the buyer was forced to hire an attorney and threaten suit to enforce the auctioneer's plain and unambiguous guaranty (which, as we discovered through the internet archive, was in fact posted on the website at the time of the auction in question despite the auctioneer's claim that it had only been added recently). Even then, it took weeks, and even then, my understanding is that the auctioneer was insisting the card be returned to him before refunding the purchase price and was refusing a simultaneous exchange through an escrow. |
