Duly note that my post was specifically premised on the two players having the same number of total hit games and total hits at the end of the season. It's a matter of how the hits and hit-game are clustered over the season, and whether a tight, bright cluster (streak) is objectively superior or merely aesthetically more pleasing to fans. As mentioned, it's not objectively clear that the streaky player is superior to player who spreads the same feats out over the entire season. In fact, many managers would prefer the latter player. |
