I have always thought if they make the movie, "The Greg Maddux Story" he would be a dead ringer for the professor.

Plus, the Schulte looks like a reprint to me.

odd that of all the cards that could have fallen out of somebody's attic, they chose a T206 Shulte; much more believable then the stories on ebay though.

I'm not surprised that they used a reprint. Even though a few recognizable actors appear in it (Broderick, Alda, Dylan Baker, Virginia Madsen), my guess is they worked for scale on a very low budget. Indies are all about finding and saving money wherever you can. Someone probably explained to one of the producers that you can get the real card in that condition for about $1000. If at some point someone dings a corner (which will happen) then you have a $35 card and continuity problems (sharp corners in one scene, a bent corner in the next).

I wrote an indie and when they were trying to get the money together, they found an investor who offered to contribute a substantial sum if his daughter, an actress, could play the sister of the main character. One problem. The movie is set in a small Georgia town, the main character is Caucasian (blonde, blue eyes) and the potential investor's daughter was of Chinese descent.

I think the movie looks great...but it is terribly lame they used a reprint. A real one would cost...what...$25? Times are tough...I guess even hollywood is cutting corners!

Come on guys its a movie, its a prop in a movie, a real card in top grade would be a $1000 and could get damaged and leave them with little. If I were them I would have used a reprint too....

howard- yeah, but there is a difference between an unattainable item (decleration of independence) and an item that could be had for anywhere between $50-500 for a clean example.

looks like a "cute" movie, but it does also erk me that they are using a reprint...

Isn't it cool enough that they're making a movie about baseball cards. Guess what, there are lots of things that are fake in movies ... bullets aren't real, your favorite actress uses a stunt ass, etc.

The movie looks interesting, reprint is annoying. My question is how much do they say the card's worth in the movie i wonder? They act like it's a $100,000 card that they found?

Also it looks like they're taking a shot at Mr. Mint and Catequet with that one character....i like it!

Someone needs to post a pic of them, i remember seeing a good one of catequet a while ago.

It's called "suspension of disbelief." Sure I noticed that Schulte was a reprint but who cares? Anything about cards is great
