Much of Joe Jackson's, Buck Weaver's and Pete Rose's popularity lie in their being perceived as outlaws, outcasts, wronged by the establishment. Being canonized by the establishment ruins the whole "wronged by the establishment" thing, especially for Rose, and prices for their memorabilia and cards would fall from their heightened states.
