proof vs production

In the released card he seems to be wearing something under his left sleeve, close to the wrist, where a watch might be. No such highlight appears in the proof. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a watch, but if it's genuine, and not just a brushed-out printers's or photographer's error, what could it be?
