It's hard to argue with the track record of vintage baseball cards in the past few years, and while cards have been softer recently, they are not subject to the same volatility of the stock market.

Also, you have guys like Bernie Madoff screwing up people's life savings, and I can't think of anything comparable to this in the baseball card market.
