A real real tough post-war issue. Maybe some registry competition. If not whales, then selling off other cards to finance it. Just speculating, but since Berry is the first card, alphabetically (they're unnumbered), it could be hard to find w/o rubberband and other #1 card marks. As a general rule, Esskays did not make it out of the package in good condition in the first place -- throw in a hasty scissors job to separate them (I think they came paired). Outrageous price nonetheless. |
