T206 Titus holds a certain mystique...only t206 card featuring a great mustache! I would show a scan of mine but am away from my home at the moment.

I still love looking at the Dove or lack thereof on the Ritchey cards.
And Shag's hairdo still brings a smile to my face---particularly when i compare this picture with those in his later life where he looks like the rest of us older baby boomers. still can't scan---sorry. best, barry |

He looks like he is scared to move and mess up his hair. D.

Not fascinating or fascinated, but the Joe Tinker portrait has always reminded me of Eraserhead (title character from David Lynch's first movie).

thanks for the scan,D.Broughman.
he does look afraid to move. if i remember correctly, in his later pictures he retains the 'hair precision' but has a bit more of a distinguished military look or old school 'coachly' look. best, barry |

I'm right there with you guys on Shag Shaughnessy. That's my favorite card in the set.
The hairdo is kicka$$ and love the popped collar look. Shaughnessy is available with 3 different backs. Piedmont 350, Brown Hindu, and Old Mill (SL). So it makes a Shaughnessy back set a very possible little subset. Here is my best one:

Good ole Spike with the massive watermelon head and silly putty alligator arms. Along with pomegranate head Stephens, one of the two most unrealistic renderings of human anatomy in the set.

I think that image of Tinker also inspired a slight variation in the form of the Flock of Seagulls haircut in the '80's.

Man, that guy from the Flock would have made a great 206 portrait

I've always found it interesting that Hal Chase is found with five different poses in the T206 set (the most by any player).

Speaking of hair, I think Matty McIntyre's hairdo is right up there with Tinker's and Shag's. What is that? The wind-blown look? At least Tinker's and Shag's looks combed.
(I don't own this card, so I posted the image from the Old Cardboard site). |
