Default wow, talk about coincidence

at one time, Hal Lewis had posted an image of a Broadleaf 460 backed t206 of Vic Willis in a thread. It was a beater. Just moments ago, someone posted a SGC 40 of the card, with a Broadleaf 460 back and I thought of Hal's, and how he hasn't been on the board for some time.

Is an SGC 40 of a HoFer with a BL460 back really worth a minimum bid of $17,000?

Julie V sold all her stuff through REA/Mark Macrae in 2006.

I seem to recall Julie posting one of her typically cryptic posts to the old Net54 forum at some point in the last year.

Jim Crandall has been posting on the Non-Sport board (but warned that he would leave if Tom ever went "high-tech.)

As Matt said, Bruce has posted on the BST, but seems to be avoiding posting on the main board.

Gil has dropped off the face of this board and the Non-Sport board.

If I remember correctly, wasn't Hal selling off much or all of his collection? I know he moved his T206 Wagner.

Edited to add: OK. Starting to get a little concerned about Gil. Just sent him an email at the address he's had for a couple of years and it was bounced. The Mailer Daemon says his "user account is over quota."

Edit #2: Just checked his account. He has not posted on the Full Count board since 5/15/2009.

Hal had some great, great cards but I think he sold most if not all off -- I recall a Mays rookie card of his in PSA 8 which sold on ebay recently. As for the Willis Broadleaf 460 for 17K -- remember, ebay is filled with miscreants who would rather rip you off than work. Somehow I guess a card like that won't get a bid.

Some fairly prominent players on the forum in years past have been nowhere to be seen over the last few years. I didn't understand half of what Julie ever posted but she is missed. Scott came back on the forum recently and stated he was gonna get back in the swing of things but I haven't seen him since. I also haven't seen Trevor or Joe Jones on here for a while, though I'm sure they are both doing fine.

Also, what ever happened to that "autograf" guy?, he used to always outbid me on the good hidden stuff on ebay.

What about Donald Johnson (spaceops) and Yawie?

Edited to add: I haven't heard from Shawn Adkins in about two years. Is he still collecting?

Hey Rhett,

I am still here, happy and collecting. I check out this board everyday, it's very hard to stay away. I just don't post anymore because the state of this board and the hobby, it's just so gloom and doom and I really don't want to respond to or add fuel to the fire per say. I think the new site is very nice (great job Leon and crew!!) I still think that baseball and baseball card collecting is a great hobby. I am still working on quite a few sets including my Colgans :-) but most of the cards have dried up as they usually do when a recession hits. I too miss a lot of the old names posting including Zach and Donald. I hope all are doing well. I do try to go to the chat from time to time.

I hope to post more soon.

All the Best,
Trevor Hocking

What ever happened to Crazy Cannuck? - I think he's serving jail time in Canada for screwing people over. Couldn't have happened to a nicer a-hole.

I sold a card to Gil in the past month, so he is doing well and still in the hobby.

Chris,

Would you please either drop me an email at jvb6034@aol.com with the email address you used for Gil, or drop him an email telling him people are looking for him?

The email I've always used for him (identify7@peoplepc.com) is not functioning right now.

Thanks.

Julie is around. She sold her collection via REA, and slowed her posting to nil after that.

Zach has been doing the college thing. He is studying hard and has a 4.0. He is still involved in the hobby, but is concentrating on his studies. He is a great guy and incredibly knowledgeable.
