It was not meant to be a derogatory term, but more so of the wide recognition of the vast fandom of radio soaps during the depression years. Soaps were followed daily ... religiously. Till this day, the term has stayed with us. I worked 15 of the 19 years, on a TV soap called The Doctors on NBC at 30 Rock. |
