It doesn't match the signature of Ernie Diehl, the ballplayer from Cincinnati. There was an Erwin G. Diehl, born August 8, 1891 in Bucks Co., PA, who lived in the Philadelphia area. Never a ballplayer, though. Perhaps it could be him.
