Candy Cummings is pictured. Moreover, and I'm not sure if this would affect the price at all, this CDV shows a studio background. It appears that this is rarer and most CDVs of this particular team image lack the studio background.

Zach is correct. That is a first generation of the 1875 Hartford BBC CDV w/Candy Cummings. There is that type and the black background type, which I used to own one of, again, as Zach mentioned. Mine was also bought on ebay and later sold in auction. I got it graded and it was graded an SGC80, I believe.
Nice card but the photo on this one was sort of messed up a little. That being the case I was a little surprised it went for that much. I think my real nice one brought around 10k when I sold it, three to four years ago.

My favorite comment:
"GOOD EVENING SIR, MANY PEOPLE WILL ATTEMPT TO TELL YOU MANY THINGS. I AM THE END ON THIS KIND OF MATERIAL, I HAVE BEEN OUTBID SO NOW I'LL FILL YOU IN 1875 HARTFORD DARK BLUES BACK ROW LEFT TO RIGHT...I AM CURRENTLY BUILDING A HOUSE AND RECENTLY BOUGHT A WORLD SERIES RING OR I'D STILL BE IN. I MAY JUMP IN AGAIN IF MY WIFE ISN'T LOOKING. HERE IS THE CATCH ... IN A PROMINENT 19TH CENTURY SALE THIS ITEM LOW END IS PROBABLY $6500 GOOD WITH THE TOP END ???????? 15 TO 20 K MAYBE. ANYWAY GREAT PIECE AND THANKS FOR LISTING SUCH A GREAT ITEM VERY VERY RARE, MATTHEW" How does one get to be "THE END" in a certain field of knowledge? That sounds like it would be cool. |

True....but I'd rather see someone chime in as the "end" on a topic and help a guy out than try to lowball a seller who might be unaware on what he has....

Don't get me wrong - that guy was certainly being helpful to the seller and was acting very kindly. My comment was simply that as entertainment, his message was "THE END" in my eyes.

The only thing better than THE END is if you are THE ENDS. Plural always beats singular.
