Back to the cards...
If you are keeping score... The Austin, Knight, and Quinn are already known Drum backs. The Olmstead and Payne are new to me. Leon, do you remember which Chase and which Lord were the Drum backs? Can we expect to see these in the next BL auction? (Please?) Joshua |

Hey guys, whose making this "political" ?
Not me ? ? Jim Bunning is a really nice guy to talk with, as I have had on several occasions over the years. With the exception of 1961 and 1964, Bunning pitched on mediocre teams for most of his 17 years. He would have won 300 games if he had he been on 1st class teams. His control was amazing . You have to appreciate his 3 to 1 ratio of strikeouts to walks, as it ranks as one of the best in Baseball. And, don't forget that Bunning pitched No-hitters in both Leagues. This feat still stands as a record unequalled in the Major Leagues. Anyhow, he was very popular with the attendees at the Philly Show this weekend. In 2 separate finds within a year, Legendary Auctions has discovered a total of 15-T205 DRUM"S. This is more T205 DRUM's than have been seen in the past 15 years. I expect that the seven T205 DRUM's that I have listed here will be offered in Le- gendary's late Spring auction. Twenty (or so) Net54er's dropped by to chat with Jim Rivera and me at our booth this weekend. The attendance on Friday and Sat. appeared less than usual, as a hurricane force Northeaster caused lot's of problems in the area all weekend. TED Z |

Most of the OBAK's were from the 1910 175 Subjects series. There are about 30 - 35 cards in this group.

It isn't often anymore that you personally get a chance to check-out a 400+ collection of T-cards that "walked-in" to a BB card show. I yearn for the days (prior to ebay and all these myriad number of auctions) when people walked-in to shows with boxes full of vintage sportscards. When they came to my table, I'd give them a fair assessment of their collection and tell them to walk their cards around to other dealers and get the best price for them. Many times they would return back to my table and we would agree to a deal. After such occasions, I'd wonder......what in the world are these other dealers thinking ? Anyhow, I could fill pages here on many of my experiences. Especially, at the Willow Grove Shows in the 1980's and the Cooperstown Shows in the '80s and '90s. TED Z |

It wasn't Scott or I that got the Drum back T205's. It sounds like it was Ron Oser, who is with Legendary. I have had a T205 Drum for quite some time and got him in a trade. But that's on the personal collection side. I don't think we have ever had a Drum T205 in one of our auctions. regards

Hi Ted
I'm pretty sure Nolan Ryan pitched no-hitters in both leagues also (AL-Angels&Rangers; NL-Astros). |

Thanks for posting all those stats on the K's/BB ratio....great stuff.
Bunning's was the 1st pitcher in the modern era (20th Century) to pitch No-Hitters in both Leagues. And, his Perfect game vs the Mets (Father's Day 1964) was the 1st perfect game in 84 years in the National Lge. John Richmond pitched a Perfect game back in June 1880. I forgot about Randy Johnson and Hideo Nomo.....but, they just aint your "vintage dudes" ![]() TED Z Last edited by tedzan; 03-15-2010 at 04:20 AM. |
