Except for the 12 Yankee "proofs in the 8-23 issue, but only because they had no actual counterpart standard. ;-) There were also paper Topps replicates in 2 of the 55 issues---8/16/54 8/23/54 4/11/55 4-18-55

Default That's an amazing "find"

I never recall seeing Gelman's ad in the old TTS, nor ever hearing about a 1957 Topps paper proof.

These appear to be the "high number" series. It's logical to assume the entire sheet was proofed in this format, and each may very well be unique.

Mark, if I can lift your scans, I'll consider listing these in the Standard Catalog (unpriced).

What issue was the Gelman ad in?

Bob,

Not a problem at all - to include the pic(s) and info in the guide.

As for the Gelman ad, if you need a complete scan, let me know.

Thanks,

Mark

Bob,

The Gelman ad was in the Sept '79 issue of TTS, pages 40 & 41.

1970 Topps cloth sticker or 1971 Topps greatest moments. Which would you choose? I wonder how many people made the wrong choice.

Default '70 Cloth stickers

I just realized Gelman's ad has seven 1970 cloth stickers that do not appear in the latest Standard Catalog checklist.

Spalding's Guide had 66 1970 Topps Stickers in the set listing, altho' he does not provide a checklist. Whatever the final count is, I'm sure it's divisible by 11.

Many, but not all of the 1967s have a dot between name and position. If you search 1967 Barry Moore and Tom Haller on Ebay, you will find none of them have a dot on the card. My Cardinals team set has 18 with dots, and 6 without.
