Frank - thanks for the 'bump'. There is some misinformation out there and just wanted the Net54 guys to clear it up. (I am in the market for a 'cheap' Wambsganss - actual picture/person) So far I've learned that the 1916s and E121s are not him. The E220 (one of my favorites), '17 Boston Store and the Maple Crispette actually show Bill.
I see on eBay a low grade E220 for $450 (wow) and a decent Boston Store example available. Again, thanks Frank! Jon Last edited by jp1216; 03-29-2010 at 04:00 PM. |

Nice cards, Brian. Thanks for posting. Good to see right handed Wamby on cards instead of that lefty Fritz.
W's 1925 Exhibit, which I don't have, shows him at the end of his career, when he was with the Red Sox. So I think the most desirable of the Wambsganss cards are the ones Brian has. The real guy, and in a Cleveland uniform. Anyone interested in Wambsganss, or old cards, MUST get the cd version of Mr. Ritter's, The Glory Of Their Times. Wamby is on there, the entire set is a treasure. If you love the white border tobacco cards, T206s, then you have to listen to those cd's. Davy Jones, Sam Crawford, Hans Lobert, Chief Meyers... it is a treasure. Mr. Ritter did us all one great service when he took to the road to find these guys. And Wamby is on there, for a few minutes.
