Scott,
You have to grow up in North Carolina. In my neighborhood, the pickup games were always between groups of kids who had an affinity with either Wake Forest, N. C. State, Duke or Carolina. I remember the heated rivalry between Frank McGuire (later Dean Smith) and Vic Bubas. My best friends were Duke and Wake Forest fans. Of course, I don't really hate Duke, I have just gotten used to saying that for 50 years. Edited to add I do despise that weasel headed coach of theirs.
