Got outbid on the Donlin TTT that closed earlier this week on ebay.

Jim, congrats on the Donlin pickup. I'm amazed at how cheap the card went (as well as how cheap I bought mine for). It's such a rare card with the TTT back.

This will always be my favorite set. I bought 10 of them back in the late 80's from Bob Mazzeo at different MA shows. Anyone remember him?

For those who like "investments", the prices then were about $100 or so for a decent common. Adjusted for inflation, I'm in the red on the ones I bought 20+ years ago. I suspect this trend is true of many cards.

They were ridiculously scare then and while the last couple of years have been lean, they're much easier to find. I never expected to be just 2 short of finishing a complete set. Thank you, modern technology.

I do remember Bob and had some good dealings with him. Love this set and consider the T.T.T backs undervalued although I am not a back guy...

That's the man, Jim! Haven't heard hide nor hair of Bob M. in 15+ yrs. That Ferris Wheel in the background means we can place him in Cleveland in 1997... I heard from another forum poster that he was in S. America, or heading that way, or alleged to have disappeared there, not too long ago.

He used to have a hoard of vintage cards back when almost no one else did.
