That's great advice Chicago! I'm only confused as to why you don't follow it...

Politely reminding an individual that 4 bumps per day is inconsiderate is NOT "interference". I think that Leon would agree with this completely! Interference is an act of making disparaging remarks about price, quality, or past sales prices of a card offered. Its a shame that I needed to point out the difference to you. I have always taken you to be one of the more intelligent members on this site.

My cards are in a safety deposit box at a bank. I hope their deadbolts are secure.

My post about the loss of prairie dog habitat in the northern plains states should be appearing in the BST momentarily.

You've said a lot of dumb things since you've been here, but this one takes the cake. For a guy who has quit the hobby a few dozen times in the last month, you still don't seem to actually go away. I give up trying to get through to you. I'll let the other 100 people who have told you the same thing try to make progress, though it appears you never actually listen or learn...

You're right, Rob. Even though I predate him by 3 years here, I have recently decided to branch off into insanity by making another personality in another part of the country. Go back to your henchman corner until the big boss gives further instructions.

I guess I just read this wrong...to my untrained eye it just seemed like someone being a....what's the term you used once "Jagoff"?

Actually, scientist, that is not correct at all. Any post that has nothing to do with buying or selling in a BST thread is interference. You aren't a moderator. Let them do their job and butt out. I was one of the few that felt you deserved a second or third chance, even after you "bull in china shop"ped your way into this forum. You obviously don't seem to be picking up any of the hints everyone is dropping in your lap...

I am just waiting for him to state that the good locks cannot be found for less than $8.00 and he will be putting an offer for any and all locks at $5.00...

Keep bumping the BST posting under the guise of it being perfectly fine. It isnt. You know it, I know it, and so does everyone else. To bump a thread 4 times in a day just because a card in your original post sold is abuse. A simple "edit" to the original post works just fine. But in light of your recent financial loss, you are SO hard up to generate some cash that you have resorted to this shameful tactic. You claim that bumping a BST listing once per 24 hours is "far worse" than what you are doing? You cannot be serious! I may be new to collecting vintage cards, but im not new to forum ettiquette. Bumping a BST ad once every 24 hours is very standard and acceptable. Bumping it 3-4 times a day because a card has sold is a desperate attempt to raise cash!

No, it most certainly is not, at least on this board.

Do yourself a favor this time and don't try to futilely argue the point.

Rob beat me to it by about 20 minutes. No, bumping a BST ad every 24 hours is not at all standard and acceptable on this forum. The "forum etiquette" here is more like a week. If you'd bothered to look around and read and understand this forum before you jumped in and started flapping jaw, you'd know that.

Once again, I'll post about how every valuable collection should be locked up in a fireproof safe that would give any thief a whole lot of trouble. A house is a very easy thing to get into, and not just through the door, but any window, garage, etc.

There are Private Message functions on this forum. If you have a problem that he bumped his thread and you want to tell him you don't appreciate it, better to tell him in PM or notify a moderator.

all Chicago was doing was making people aware of a potential problem and security issue. He shouldn't be given a hard time for that regardless of how you feel about him or what else he has done. He meant no harm, just provided information.

If you knew about this potential risk beforehand, then skip to the next thread.

I am personally glad he posted this because i had never heard of it before.

How many of you have ever heard of FLEXISPY? It is a security risk to your cell phone.

thanks Chicago.

thanks for bringing this to my attention Chicago206. I had heard about this technique in high school and had totally forgotten about it. Getting my safe from my Dad's house this weekend so I can store my best cards in it.

I disagree. A, he has a history. But B, the world is FILLED with useful information about life -- none of which should be posted on here unless it has a direct relationship to card collecting. What's next, a study on how glass windows can be broken so people can enter homes to steal baseball cards?

As far as I know Home Security has never been off topic for this forum considering many of us have these concerns as collectors of high dollar cards and memorabilia. I don't even think this is the first time this lock bumping technique has been discussed on Net54.

if you can post about stolen cards or collections , you should be able to post something like this that may prevent it from happening. just my opinion

How to secure collections is of course on topic. Wasn't saying it wasn't.
