Call St. Louis newspapers and see if they have a microfilm library dating that far back.

Four bucks will get you the full text of the New Tork Times' coverage of the game:
http://select.nytimes.com/gst/abstra...8BD95F438385F9 A call to the St Louis or Chicago libraries should get you coverage of the game from those local papers -- librarians are almost invariably eager to help out with such search requests, although having the articles retrieved, copied, and mailed to you will typically cost between $5. and $15. per page. It would be a big advantage to you if you know anyone in St Lou or Chicago who could get the material in person for you at no cost.

Here's the box score....
http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1...020SLA1937.htm If it were me I'd either 1) go to the St. Louis Public Library with some coins and head for the periodicals on microfilm... Or, 2) use this link http://www.slpl.org/index.asp and click on the Ask a Librarian link, and you can chat real time... I'd get the name and address of one of them, tell them what I wanted, then mail them a large SASE and a $20 bill, asking that they print out all they can on the game, mail it to you, and keep the change... Let us know how it goes. Last edited by FrankWakefield; 06-17-2010 at 07:12 PM. |
