This theft happened a long time ago. It was clearly a case of youthful indiscretion, as were all of these thefts.

Joe - are you being sarcastic or is that what you believe? Sometimes in print it is hard to distinguish between the two.
Mr Gutierez was a full time dealer during the time that is referred to in the story.

For sure, Nash is a first class, two faced, fast talking swindler. That not withstanding, the information he is bringing to light exposing others of his kind seems pretty straight forward and hard to dispute. Boy what people do for money - really, really sad. |

This dude is seriously horning in on O'Keeffe's territory. I am a bit stunned at this latest revelation. Who's next?

Have the letters been returned to the Hall of Fame from the various auctions ? What are their status ? If they are stolen from the Hall of Fame they should be returned. Are the auction houses keeping these ? Anybody know ?

The one thing Heritage has not addressed (unless I missed it) is why they continue to accept any letters from or to August Herrmann?
It's obvious that Herrmann's correspondence was thorough and complete in the papers he donated. Any letters with his name on it should be checked with the National Baseball Library archives. |
