Am aware of the whole Old Mill overprint scandal, but I was under the impression that the perpetrators of that fraud had made their amends and that the site remained reliable. Am I mistaken?

Also, my impression is that the T206.org valuation calculator uses the same numbers as T206museum.com, with the difference that T206museum lists the individual back and grade multipliers.

IMO, the scandal was just too egregious to ever go to that site again. And I'm sure that Trae doesn't even want to be mentioned in the same sentence as T206museum.com.

No disrespect intended. Perhaps Trae can enlighten us how the valuations on T206.org are based. I'm curious if it uses the same numbers as T206museum. And when it was last updated.

I've found that it seems to undervalue the higher grade cards (it puts a common PSA 6 at $125 when for the most part they're going for $150-200, or a PSA 7 for $250 when they're going northward of $350), and takes no account for many of the "uncommon" or "desirable" commons -- Doyle (NY), Magee portrait (non-error). I've found that no one pricing source is perfect for valuing cards, so in general you can't rely on just one. But between SMR, VCP, and the T206 calculators it gives a good sense of things. Of course, the more rare the item, then the less reliable the data.

Just speaking for myself, but I will pay top dollar for a tough combo, but only if it is something I need/want. Pretty much the only time it hurts is when someone else needs it too. I was willing to pay way over market for one combo that I needed for a very long time, but got it at half of what my bid was, just because no other folks needed the card.

I have also been blown out of the water on some cards that I did not think were that special. I think that is one of the fun things about the T206 front/back combos. I paid top dollar for my SC350/460 Factory 25 Joss when I need that combo and paid well above market for a SC 350,25 Collins a couple weeks ago. It only brings the money if you find one person willing to pay for it at a set price or two folks in an auction.
