Hey,
After taking another look dave, i'm almost wanting to say this would be Joe Mcginnity's rookie piece, yes it's not an actual card...but I dont know if there is any earlier items with Mcginnity??? It is amazing to me how new things (new to me anyway) pop up like this every once in awhile... I have never seen this schedule before. Shawn |

You may be right, i'm not sure if there's something that was earlier for McGinnity or not. It his is same post from the E103, as it is for some others who are also featured on the E103, Keeler looks the same I know. |

Shawn:
Excellent observation but, while 1900 is Joe's rookie year, this item is a team composite besides not being a "card" so it would not really qualify as a rookie piece. Joe's M101-1, also issued in 1900, would be his true rookie. |

m101-1 also not a card though. Both items still very cool.

Well if you have a black light, take a moment to illuminate that schedule with it. Let us know if it fluoresces. And where did you acquire that schedule??

I don't have a black light Frank. What exactly are you seeing as an issue? It's fake? ? It would be easier if you'd just say.... Last edited by asphaltman; 12-05-2010 at 10:30 PM. |

I don't think it's fake. But I'm not certain as to authenticity. The address is correct for the 2nd Washington Park. And the chronology of the year, dates, and days of the week are correct, I checked.
It looks like a pocket schedule... like the ones we see now, and they've been around for about 60 years or so. That one you have would be twice that old. Anyone here see a pocket schedule that folds like modern ones for the 1910's, or 1920's?? If it doesn't glow then we're good. A black light is one fine tool for a vintage collector, everyone fooling around here should have one. The lights are cheap. And one glowing card will pay for the cost of the light. The TPG guys should use one EVERY time; it would avoid the embarrassment of having something in a slab fluoresce, or maybe they'd not be embarrassed by that. |

Well as I said Frank I appreicate any input. I do find it a bit confusing what would be the difference in you not thinking it's fake but questioning the authenticity?
As far as the size...5 1/2" by 5 1/4" or so...that was actually my very first eye brow raiser. I thought it was the smallest item I've seen that had the team portraits laid out like a team cabinet card. I did ask who a couple folks that I'd label as probably some of the smartest and most educated in the hobby their thoughts...and I've heard the size wasn't "that unusual". It feels real to me....and looks real to me...but I'm not an expert and if it left my hands and went into the hands of someone that is more educated they'll have to determine that....compared to what else? I don't know. The greatest tool of this forum is to educate hopefully. As far as where it came from, it was in a scrapbook on the west coast that had items from the Brooklyn-New York area from 1900. It would have appeared that someone may have taken a trip to NY and possibly kept items from the different places they visited.....it was the only baseball item.
