Just got these back from SGC/JSA this afternoon. A beautiful fountain-pen signed T206 Blackburne. This makes 37 different autographed T206 poses for my collection -- now just 13 short of my near-impossible goal of 50. This is also the only autographed Minor League T206 card I own -- Blackburne and Cravath may be the only ones possible. And it's the only signed Sovereign that I own as well.
This Marquard is a double for me, but I couldn't resist the gorgeous signature on this example, which may date to the 1930s. ![]() Finally, the Livingston is also a double for me, but my other version was signed on the reverse. This one came from ebay last week.

Thanks Mike ! The piece is a 1 of 1 Helmar Brewing Art piece. I have bought some odd and end pieces from Helmar Brewing (Charles Mandel) since they started putting out their beautiful art cards a few years back and while it is not vintage, Charles & Team put a lot of work and craftmenship into every piece they make and this die cut cabinet was right up my alley since I collect Nashville/Tennessee Type material/Southern League stuff. The piece measures about 5x6 and has tremendous detail to both the front and back. Also, I like the fact that Charles will not make another like this, so it makes it a bit exclusive. Even though 99% of what I collect is vintage material, I like to stray as a collector... Helmar is creative and brings joy to my collecting.

Larry - Mike - Joe,
Thanks for kind words. I find the piece amazing and thought it belonged on our vintage board due to it's relation to T206 poses of those 6 Tn players. By the way, Helmar Brewing just ran a few more similar auctions for the other Southern Leaguer's on Ebay. (Texas & Southern League Stars, Alabama Stars, etc.) The die cut cabinets were very similar to the one I have posted. There was also a Sally Die Cut with Joe on it that went for a strong price. Beautiful artwork... I have scans if anyone wants me to forward them (Or post them) Thanks, JJ

My Dad called me over to his house and gave me these 2 as a gift. Aren't cards the best gift? The Merkle is an ad back and the Griffith a checklist back. I'll get them graded when I have the cash to do so!

This Hick Cady arrived in the mail this morning. It was graded Authentic by SGC which must have scared off a lot of buyers. I can't think of a better card for a lifetime Red Sox fan. The card softens the pain of the "lost weekend" in Texas for this year's Red Sox team.
A boardmember recently picked one up, and I then decided I should have this classic catcher pose card in my collection. Since there are only a handful of PCL cards left on my wantlist, and also only a few more cards on my type card list for the 7 major league catchers I collect, I have started adding a few beautiful examples of other major league players' cards such as the Bill Bergen E101 card as well as this Hick Cady card. That Cady CrackerJack is sweet. Might even consider resubmitting it, worst case it comes back authentic again.

@Mikehealer - That's a sweet Nap. At a PSA 2, I'm guessing there's some kind of adhesive (or the like) on the back that accounts for the grade. Regardless, a beautiful card.

Jeff and vintagecather, nice Cady pickups.
Jeff: I waffled for a long time on that one in Mears. Nice pickup! Scotty: Thanks for the admiration on the Ramly. I love this issue and getting close to the Sox subset. Here is another one that I just picked up that is just like vintagecather's Cady as It is graded PSA authentic. Regards, Michael |
