I agree with Iggy. Almost makes me wish for Peter Chao to liven up the board again. Naaahhh.

So the seller took erroneous information from Goodwin's site, and used it for his sale. Why not use a primary source to see what Harry Wright's actual contributions to baseball were?

Also see that card has become a lot more valuable since the auction closed. Must be inflation.

Barry-That's hilarious! When I first read the description my reaction was to think of Goodwin Auction descriptions, the only place where I recall seeing inaccuracies like that. I didn't realize that the description WAS lifted from a Goodwin Auction description.

It should be listed as the "Ghost of Harry Wright" variety. You can't see him, but you can feel his presence, kinda.

When I originally saw the description on ebay, the overhand thing didn't even register with me. I couldn't seem to get past the mention of the $4000 SMR while trying to sell the card for $8200.

Jay- well of course that brings us to the topic of grading, and how a card with that light a photo should never be a 5 under any circumstances. But that's for another thread.

Default OJ grading

I know this is off the subject of the OP, but once again, this card brings to light how ridiculous the grading scale is for OJs. This bugs me more than inflated descriptions. Yes, I know this issue has been raised before. I would pay more for a PSA 1 with a clear and rich image than for a seriously faded PSA 5. If that card was little more than a blank piece of cardboard, yet barely identifiable as Wright, it would have probably gotten the same grade.

I'm glad I bought most of my cards before QE2.

Wow, tough crowd today. A little far fetched description and price but you guys are brutal! It's his card he can ask what he wants.

Chao sure did "spice" up the board in the old days though.

To be completely honest, i just recently found Net54 and began lurking here, right around the same time that Peter became a member and started posting (i believe that was back sometime around the winter of 2007 or so) and he got me coming back to Net54 every few hours, just to see what he was gonna post next, lol.

There seems to be a ring of eBay sellers who have been doing this. All their cards are raw and all are "STUNNING!!!" "PERFECT CENTERING!!!!!" "BREATHTAKING!!!!!!"

Flooding ebay with 300 of these listed individually is really annoying.

Don't forget these straight out of Net 54s BST, from a seller that knew nothing about them a week earlier.

"(A card in this shape is shocking)"

"(another relatively insane card)"
