Interesting read Paul, thank you. Robert W. Henderson, whom you cited, wrote a very important book entitled "Ball, Bat, and Bishop". It is a study of the very early history of baseball through the printed literature. When I first started getting interested in early baseball books, Henderson was my bible. He was also the curator of one of the really great baseball libraries, which now resides at the Racquet and Tennis Club of New York.
