Default this thread deserves reviving IMO

Great stories.
On my 13th birthday in 1986, my parents gave the the greatest gift I would ever recieve...a 1956 Mickey Mantle. They paid $35 for it; bought it mail order from Kit Young.
Later in life I gave it to my dad on Father's Day. He was also a collector but never spent that much on a card for himself. He passed away in 2003 and I have the card agian. I will pass it on to my firstborn; hopefully many years from now.

I am in the research stage for a book about collecting with my dad and recently I was able to speak with Kit Young. I informed him I bought a 56 Mantle in EXMt from him for $35. He said, "that's brutal, that's brutal," haha

If anyone has any stories about collecting with their father or connections with cards (particularly 50's-80's) and you would allow me to include them in my book I would love to hear what you got and consider it for inclusion. Thanks in advance!
