No surprise to me. I hope they throw the book at them. And who said there is no oversight? Kudos to the FBI and Postal Inspector again!!

Interesting. I know of a few of those people.
I don't collect game used, but follow it out of general interest. Essentially the same goes for autographs. Last edited by drc; 10-25-2011 at 10:47 PM. |

Michael O Keefe has a big story in the NY Daily News today about this bust.
This sure says a lot about the due diligence of the card companies that bought these uniforms. Now hundreds if not thousands of collectors are now holding a worthless piece of cloth that is attached to a baseball card.

Personally I never really figured a 1/2 inch square of cloth was worth anything in the first place.
Now to see if people actually care that the tiny bit of cloth is really game used or if it's more about the picture and serial number. On the plus side it means fewer actual game used items were cut up ![]() Steve B |

Steve, your last sentence is a good point. One good thing about this fraud.

No thanks to the card companies who thought up this horrid idea of chase cards and cutting up bats an uniforms and signed documents and then putting 3/4 of an autograph on a card.

It just doesn't come out right, no matter how you say it: "Trading card manufacturers frequently purchase game used jerseys, cut the jerseys into small pieces, and insert the pieces into card packages."
