Here is a pair of c. 1930 Babe Ruth All-American Underwear related items. First off is a vintage original photo of the Bambino (looking quite fit), that originates from the Christy Walsh Family Archives. This famous image of Ruth was said to be his favorite and also graced the cover of his popular underwear box. Note: Babe liked this photo so much that he commissioned a large painting of it that proudly hung in his apartment. It can be seen in an image in the Barry Halper Catalogs.
Purchased as a companion piece for the original photo is this seldom seen 4x5 Babe Ruth Underwear glass advertising slide that was used in movie theaters to advertise the sponsor's goods. A fragile piece that remains in top-notch condition. babeunderwearimage.jpgBabeRuthGLASSSLIDE.jpg Last edited by thekingofclout; 11-25-2011 at 09:55 AM. |

Nice photo! BTW, the guy on the left, holding the bat straight up, is Yankee outfielder--and Derek Jeter look-alike--W. F. "Birdie" Cree, who had been sent down to Baltimore in 1914. Here's the contract he signed later that year when he returned to the Yankees.

Birdie Cree?? Holy god, David - that's a friggin' AWESOME piece. Now, if you have one of Russ Ford's contracts, my brain might explode...

I've got one, Jimmy. But you'll have to change your last name to "Flynn."

Jimmy- Maybe Spence could put his sticker over the Flynn for you? How sweet would that be?

Never to late to revive a thread about Babe Ruth!
I forgot to post this here. It is the first type 1 with Babe, that I acquired. It's nice cause it has Gehrig as well. ![]() Fall 1927 barmstorming in Iowa. Article below the pics describes the event. ![]() ![]() ![]() and no...I won't be expanding the collection to include Ruth photos. ![]()
