Basically third-party anecdotal evidence is always subject to claims of "lack of hard info." The point, which is undisputable, is that Jeter is easily one of the most charitable, if not the most charitable, player in the game today.

If you dispute that, why don't you provide some "hard info"? You can browse 501c3 data online. Why don't you spend some of your time doing research rather than just publicly bitching about modern baseball players on an internet chat board.

Heck, I'll even take "soft info" from major news sources suggesting Jeter's charitable endeavors aren't at the top of his class.

Never easy to defend the super millionaire baseball player. Like I said before, this lot has already made up its mind about Jeter. If i succeeded in showing that he is one of the most charitable players in the game today -- which was all I was trying to do -- then I'll take that pyrrhic victory.

You didn't say he was ONE of the most, you said he was THE most, and you couldn't prove that. All David did was ask for a source for that claim and you got all defensive.

That was just some fan's opinion of the "Top 5 Charitable Current Players". It has nothing to do with fact. Jamie Moyer was not even listed, and he would rank ahead of all those people. Yep- he's still a current player

I am sure there were other significant omissions as well. Dumb argument, but I can see both sides to it.

Um, here's the rankings for 2010. Don't think 2011 has been compiled yet. This is the hardest evidence I could find. Jeter ranks third in MLB behind Berkman and Rivera. But he is in the top 30 of all celebrities across genres. Say what you want about my hyperbolic claim that he was first, but this is the best evidence readily available.

Agreed, this is dumb to argue about. I'll admit i was off by 2. But this is simply not the hallmark of a greedy person, let alone worth coming onto a public internet chatboard to call him a "greedy prick" and a "greedy bastard" which is Atkatz's favorite Net54 pastime.
