Tuxedo Tobacco Ads
Anyone know anything about these ads? There are a couple examples that I have found online, some with eyelets, some with out, some dated 1960's some dated 1920's?!
Any info is appreciated. Thanks |

I'm skeptical as to originality, guessing fakes or fantasy pieces.

Somewhere I have photos of Tuxedo "cards" that were cut from ad pieces. They are black on brown tint cardboard stock. Slightly larger than T206. The dealer that had them is from NY and frequented Cooperstown shows. His name was "Coach", but I don't recall his full name. Ted Z knows who he is. They were authentic and extremely cool, but he wanted my first born for them and I didn't close the deal. I know Matty was one and there were two others(Collins & Marquardt?). Never seen any other examples and the ones I saw were at a NC antique show many years ago.

My question is what medium are the originals/authentics printed on? I have seen some printed on what looks like old paper, and have examined some that are printed on what seems to be a linen backing.
How do you tell the Tuxedo originals, like the Matthewson, from copies? |

tuxedo ads
FAKE! Those small tuxedo ads are fake. There was a thread several years ago on them and the consensus was that they were fake. The pictures were taken from the larger ads.

My memory fails me again. It was determined the "cards" were ads glued to a backing. They are fake. Here's an old thread discussing them:. http://www.network54.com/Forum/15365...co+cards%21%21

Never seen the colorized version before! That's frame-worthy.

Love the real signs, Bob.
And the colorized ad with Cobby is pretty neat too.
