Default Am Caramel E121 E122 Qxs from noob

Posted By: ManuteBol

I have a couple of questions about American Caramel's E121 and E122 cards. First though, I'll admit that I know very little about collecting and may ask some dumb questions.

I thought it might be fun to, over the years, try and work towards completing the E122 set. I currently have 32 of the 122's but only 15 of the 121's (set of 80), so I thought this would make the most sense. However...

1: I've found much more out there on the E121's than the E122's.
a. Why is this?
b. Are the 121's more common? More collectible?
c. The images on the 122's appear less sharp, is this true?

2: How would I go about finding out more information about these cards? I've been trying to get information about them online, but have found it very difficult. But as one of the guides in the "detecting card alterations and reprints" says, find out as much info as you can.

3: What would be a logical way to start collecting these? Or, how did you start collecting cards of this era? This would obviously be a very long-term project, and starting small would be the way to go. I just don't know how one would get started.

Here's what I'm starting out with...

E122:
Dave Brancroft
Ping Bodie
George Burns
Ty Cobb (2)
George Dauss
Urban Faber
Eddie Foster
Kid Gleason
Wm. C. Jacobson
Hugh Jennings
Walter Johnson
Joe Judge
George Kelly
Bill Killefer
John Lavan
Carl May
Rabbit Maranville
Al Mamaux
Hy Myers
Roger Peckinbaugh
Eppa Rixey, Jr.
Babe Ruth
Slim Sallee
Hank Severeid
George Sisler (2)
Milton Stock
George Tyler
Oscar Vitt
Zach Wheat
Fred Williams
Ivy Wingo
Joe Wood

E121, set of 80:
George Burns
George Dauss
Charles Deal
William Doak
Walter Johnson
Nemo Leibold
Guy Morton
E. C. Rice
Babe Ruth
Ray Schalk
Fred Schupp
Tris Speaker
Milton Stock
Fred Toney
Joe Wood
