Anyone know where I can get a copy of this? Are there different editions?

I've been searching for a while on ebay amazon etc.. and no luck.

I ordered one from here

http://online.cmgww.com/scp/stores/1/1980-T206-The-Monster-Book-by-Bill-Heitman-P85C0.aspx

a few months back and never received it(they didn't charge my CC either).

Thanks.

Sportscards Plus was selling copies a year or two ago. You may want to call to see if they still have any.

Mr. Heitman does frequent the board. Perhaps he'll chime in.

I think he has copies he will sell for a small fee. You can probably do a search on here and find the link to his email address.

Matt,

My e-book has a front/back checklist that updates Bill Heitman's. You can download it at:

http://www.t206museum.com/page/tools.html

Bill Brown, who frequents this board, also has an Excel spreadsheet with all of the front/back combinations. Bill and I have worked together to update it regularly as new information on front/back combinations comes to light. If you search for a thread on the T206 Superset started by Bill a while back you will be able to get Bill's email address.

Heitman's book is great, and Scot's work takes it to the next level...every T206 collector needs to own both of these...

Thanks, Michael. Bill H.'s book was a watershed, but with T206 there is always more to learn. Even though my own effort is only a year old, there are already a couple of (relatively minor)changes I would make based on new information. For example: 1) There are a few subjects that I identified as "possible" 150-onlys that have since been revealed with 350 backs; 2) Some information has developed on the Kleinow and Smith variations that would have caused me to classify them differently than I did. This information only came to light because of Net54 contributors (Ted Z. Jamie H, Brian W. etc. etc.). Someday I would like to compile all the information on this board into a new encyclopedia of vintage baseball cards. Lew Lipset did a magnificent job with his encyclopedia--but also like Bill H., Lew's effort is a generation old.

The regular participants on this board know more about the T206 set by a wide margin than anybody did in the 1980's- with Scot, Brian, and Ted, among many others, leading the way.

Scot,

Thanks for the info. I already found and read your e-book numerous times. In fact it was one of the reasons I got back into collecting after my decade long lay-off for (insert multiple reasons here).

I realize The Monster has been updated, I just want one to go along with my collection, and think it can impart some nuggets of information I've missed.

Thanks again.

Matt,
Part of the reason I wrote the e-book was to reignite interest in T206 among 20-40-somethings (such as myself) who left the hobby in the '80s and '90s for other pursuits. I am gratified to have helped spur you to return to the hobby. I only returned in 2003 after a 15-year layoff.

scot, thanks...

with all of that said, how would you rank the following in order of scarcity?

obviously it first goes:

demmitt
o'hara
elberfeld...

then?

smith, chi/bos
kleinow, bos
lundgren, chi
dahlen, bk
browne, wash

(i collected all the rarities about 10 years ago, most in lower grasde, but i forgot the order of scarcity)...

thanks,
MS

Michael,

My eBook includes a scarcity ranking. Of course, it is just an educated guess.
