What did you guys think about that Lafayette set that went off in mastro a little bit ago.

Even college football is coming into its own these days.

As I had never seen these cards offered before and the photos were sepia, I found this to be the most exciting vintage football cardboard offering in the auction. I'd like to know who won it. These definitely don't appear to have been saved much by attendees to their games.

I had bid on that set (about $4,500 less than the final price) because of a number of players who went on to the Frankford Yellow Jackets and the Pottsville Maroons - there was Jack Ernst and Charlie Berry from 1925 Pottsville, (Berry will be a household name if the book "Breaker Boys" is made into a movie,) and Johnny Budd who played for Frankford in their championship year 1926, and Frank Kirkleski who played for Pottsville, Orange, and Brooklyn - and maybe more. Nice set, wrong price!
