I in total agreement with you in terms of scarcity. What's even more impressive, I believe there is a board member (lurker) who has collected approximately 3/4 of the set which would be about 90 different stamps, which I think is incredible. Would love to see them all.

Leon.....if you ever decide to sell the quarter, keep me in mind....

I bought a lot of Piedmont BB Stamps from David Festberg circa 1999-2001. Probably 35 or so of them. Few nice ones but overall very low condition. Wish I still had some of them!

I do however have about 100+/- of the non-sports T330 Piedmont and Chesterfield stamps.....equally tough to find but at a better pricepoint....

I believe it's a 1912 BoSox Tatoo but does have perforated edges

Martin, It should probably be noted in the guides that the Ray Schalk in that set is ALWAYS found with the staple holes at the top due to his placement on the sheet.

The image looks similar in style to the ones Rhett showed above, but the duplication of the name is a little odd.

I think this is from either 1909 or 1911. Warren Miller had a little more than a cup of coffee with Washington in those two years, with a total of 85 AB in 47 games (and a slugging average of .188).

Below is the first official postage stamp ever produced with a baseball theme. It was issued in the Philippines (then a US territory) in 1934--Babe Ruth’s last year with the Yankees. This example was "canceled" by Ruth.

Ironically, the first US domestic postage stamp with a baseball theme was not issued until 1939, keyed to the celebration of the "centennial" of baseball.

Let's not forget the 1927 Rinkeydink stamp set (example below).



This ten-stamp set's main claim to fame is that the players on all ten stamps were later elected to the baseball Hall of Fame. So whoever selected the subjects seemed to know what they were doing.

... and besides, this is also Dan Mckee's favorite set (see Net54 post at http://www.network54.com/Forum/15365...34/Rinkeydinks.
