Default Would you tell the seller??

Just came across this and chuckled a bit. Then, I wondered if the seller really thinks he has what he states he has in his item description:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1850s-1860s-...item1e78f6012e

Would anyone even bother to let him in on things:

http://www.vbbf.com/baseballs.html

OR, just let it be. Just wondering how proactive everyone else might be.

I am by no means an expert, and when I see some items like this I tend not to say anything and let auctions take their course. I would hope that anyone interested and willing to spend that kind of money on a BIN would research more than the seller has. The amount kind of disturbs me. If one truly somehow had an original first factory made ball in pristine condition with stamping, I would hope they would expect a heck of alot more money for the real deal. Throwing in a picture of an old bat also could be misleading to some.

I email sellers all the time. In fact, I just emailed this one.

He knows exactly what it is. The price is just attractive enough to dupe some novice collector into thinking he got a deal.

It would be listed for double that amount if the dealer really believed it was authentic. When was the last time you saw a reasonable BIN price on something like this, on EBay? Total sleaze!

Now that we've identified the sleaze...I think that the "bat" he has listed is a farm tool. Just sayin'.

the seller has purchased a few items from me over the years and within a year each time he has sold the items back to me at 50% less than what he paid.

Jim, so are you saying he's just a dimwit? I'm cracking up.

From my experience with him I would guess he overpaid for the item and now he is tying to get the money back, he believes the ball is old because he was told so and now has tunnel vision on the price

Where we're we when he brought the ball
