Sure looks like him, though with a beard. Later in life, obviously but with such a rare image, I think the value would be good. As for unique, I have many RPPCs which I believe to be unique until another shows up. The nature of the PC is that more than one would normally have been printed up. But sometimes only a few 5, 10, 25, etc. Who knows in other words. I'd call it unique until someone shows me another. :-)

Value is not my strong suit as I tend to overpay for most things I like. :-)

Fantastic card.

WOW!!!! In 1932 Jimmy Claxton also played for the Nebraska Indians...It is quite possible he is wearing that uniform...it almost appears as if the symbol could be a Native American symbol.

Here is a 1932 flyer from the NI...they have a similar round symbol in the same place on the uniform, but the symbol can not be made out on the flyer. I also realize that the uniform is dark in your photo and light in mine, but the NI team was well funded and could have had different uniforms.

[QUOTE=pariah1107;1170102]Thanks Jay.

Here's another rare Claxton photo (middle row, second from left); 1922 Puyallup Homestead Giants (Tacoma). Believe the man to Claxton's left is "Doc" Hamilton who owned the PNW's equivalent of the Harlem Club in Seattle, Doc Hamilton's Barbeque Pit. Claxton also pitched for Doc Hamilton's Queen City All-Stars (Seattle) in 1923.

This why I love this site! I live in Puyallup and was aware of the Claxton Tacoma history but had never heard of the Puyallup Homestead Giants. Is that an original image?

Based on the beard and the year, it's very likely that he was playing for the Cuban House of David. No affiliation with the actual House of David in Benton Harbor. Many barnstorming teams during that era wore beards and called themselves some variation of "House of David" as a gimmick. Ripping of the House of David name became so pervasive that lawsuits were involved.

1931 and 1932 were prime years for the Cuban House of David team, although there were several teams calling themselves that. The "main" team by that name was composed of Negro Leaguers and the occasional actual Cuban such as Luis Tiant or Lazaro Salazar. Tetelo Vargas (Dominican) also played for this team. I'm not sure about Claxton, though. I'm not home so I don't have access to reference material or I'd be able to research it further.

Anyway, that's my guess. I don't recognize the uniform, but the patch appears to be an American flag, possibly part of a two-flag logo with another country's flag crossing it?

Not sure if that helps as it's only a guess.
