Default noticed two things just now...

Just got through perusing a "few" ebay auctions and I have come to two conclusions:
first - WOW! these t205 short prints are really, really hard to find.
second - WOW! these t205 asking prices seem ridiculously high! Did I pick a bad time to start collecting these wonderful cards?

not bidding on anything in particular, just scouring everything for cards in my "range"! almost anything for $10-25. I hate to admit, I do watch for certain backs and the possibility of grabbing a deal here and there.
I tend to open up alot of ebay links to check the backs and then I start looking at graded and even ungraded cards and comparing prices to the valuation section of t205.org, voila! Some prices are out of sync with the online guide.
Not that I can afford cards like them yet!

Sometimes it's really hard to say (regarding prices). But a few things that seem to happen in general, and relating to T205s in particular.

Are more people looking for these now or do I just 'notice' more people looking for these since I am looking for them? Even the lower end stuff seems to be going a bit higher than it was a year or two ago for the 205s.

I know I also get caught up in perpetual deal mode. If I find a good deal on some cards, then I look for the same kind of 'deal' on all cards, which makes my 'trigger' price lower and the selling prices 'seem' even higher. If you get stuff from a dealer you know for $5-$10 apiece, it makes you pause at getting them for $10-$15 apiece, even though those might be a good price as well.

Well I'm going the other way on this one. Most T205s even SPs are pretty easy to find in a major sports card auction or on Ebay. You will be able to find several examples of all the cards from this set come up in any given year. Unless your after PSA and above or looking for the tuff variations you will be able to chase this set and enjoy it as much as the T205 guys on this site have.

As for prices - they are no different than any other cards on E-bay, ect. Some people want what they want for their cards and will not sell many, if at all by asking pie in the sky prices. Wait for the right card it will happen.

Prices on T205s are fairly volatile. In the past 15 years, prices have gone up and down. In 2004 I could buy p-f-g T205 commons for around $5-$10. Around 2009, the price for the same cards was around $12-$15. Now, the prices are all over the place...I still pick cards up for around $13-$20 but it is tough and competition has increased. If you bide your time, there are bargains still around, and not always on ebay (been buying more and more away from the bay)...

maybe I need to start expanding my searches, but bottom line "just keep up the good chase". I will admit, it has only been a couple of months but it has been ALOT of fun so far!

Not only are the short prints tough but some commons are as well. I've been trying to get a decent good or better daubert for over a year under 30 dollars, meanwhile I run into bris lord and dygert everywhere I turn. 15 cards left and counting until complete.

Thanks but I have some beastly cards left to buy, and I'm not even doing a master set, just basic with all front variations.
