1961 american leage allstar ball
I have been presented with a situation that I realy don't no what I should do. the cost of grading is more than some of the items I have are worth.
the items I have will help not only the owner of these items but is also opening doors to people that I could not have met without his help. I am asking for some help should I try to sell these as is or should I send it in to PSA I no the mantle could be clearer but I havnt found many balls on the net to compare it to? if you have info I would be happy to listen Frank Bolling collection Last edited by minibatsman; 10-11-2015 at 10:17 PM. |

It's going to be expensive and tough to get all that stuff authenticated. I would type up letters for everything or a chain type letter with Mr. Bolling signing each letter individually attesting that they came from his personal collection and sell them that way. Just my opinion but if you have to send this stuff in the PSA for grading, you'll be paying $$$$ per item. Good luck however you proceed and nice to be doing this on his behalf.

I agree with Tom but I do have a caveat (an caveat??? stupid English...). This is an important year obviously. The fact that it has both Mantle and Maris on it from that year is key and makes it worth more than a similar ball from a different year. Mantle didn't always sign even all star game balls himself. Interested buyers likely know this, and even a letter by the owner stating that he saw Mantle sign it may not be good enough.
Sad though it may be, I could see this ball carrying enough of a premium with an alphabet soup LOA that it may be worth it. May cost around $250 though. Tom C |

Consign the material to a reputable auction house. The eyes you want to see the items will see them and the house can handle all the authentications for you.
