Mantles, Aarons, and Ruths Oh My!
So after taking a break from the hobby for a few years, I recently started to add some things to my collection. Or at least think about it ... the prices on these players are higher than I have even seen.
I think I missed the boat on an Aaron RC, and was looking to add another decent Ruth in the 3/40 range, but the prices from 2-3 years ago have nearly doubled. At least on eBay ... which is still awful after several years. Any thoughts on this trend? Thanks |

I noticed the trend much more with early Mantles and Aaron and Clemente RCs than with midgrade Ruths. If you don't want to wait out the (maybe) bubble then a solution could be to buy a grade or even two lower than you otherwise would have three years ago and wait for an example with nice eye appeal.

The Clemente is actually a card I have been considering at a 5/60 level.

Prices have surged for sure. Take a look at a '54 Johnston's Cookies Aaron. It's not a Topps rookie, but it is still a rookie. And it's far scarcer than Topps as well. A very undervalued card IMHO. Unfortunately if you want a Babe you might need to pony up. I don't see those going down anytime soon. And with Mick, a good choice would be a PSA/SGC 4-5 '54 Red Heart. Another nice looking card that can be found with nice eye appeal in lower grades and not break the bank. Good luck with your hunt!

The JC Aaron is undervalued .... and a really nice looking card. A buddy of mine finally decided to buy one actually.
May decide to go to the Philly show this weekend. The asking prices can't be worse than eBay, right? |

Actually, they could be, from what people here have posted in the past.
