Attn Ball Collectors - John Tener Ball?
Official Spalding National League Baseball
Ok, for starters this ball is darkened. Quite dark. Not sure if by spit, by shine, by shellac or all of the above, but this is the epitomy of a Dead Ball Baseball. You can even feel it's heavier then a normal ball, this is a deadball. But is it a Tener? Tener balls are very rare and valuable as you can see from Brandon's book History of the Base Ball or the Keyman guide below: http://keymancollectibles.com/balls/...ueball1918.htm Now there is writing on the ball and years and players, but I can't make out the names and want to say I do not believe they are major leaguers. So was this Official National Baseball a town ball or what? There are a few years written on here as well, looks to be 1915 and 1917. Someone with better eyes or a black light (mine broke) to look better at the names and the ball itself can possibly determine if this is a RARE Tener ball, or what? A great research project if your up for the challenge. No guarantees here, but it is a most definitely neat vintage deadball era NL baseball that would be a neat add to your collection. $225 Shipped. |
