OT: Just two of the greatest taking some batting practice
Saw this clip on Facebook and had to share the link. Great quality video of Ruth and Gehrig taking batting practice.

You would never see two players sharing the same bat today.

You can see NYY #32 and 25 warming up in the background, but the internet seems to think that no one wore those numbers for the Yankees in 1931.
Jimmy Reese wore #25 in 1930, but that's as close as I've found. 32 was shared by: Bill Karlon, Ken Holloway, and Frank Barnes in 1930. I guess they wore different uniforms for exhibition games? |

Nearly 200,000 views in just 10 days. Those are pop song numbers. It's nice to see so much interest in the game's history on YouTube.

this is absolutely awesome... but whoever was throwing that BP session was awful. Who throws near Babe's chin for BP(2:12 mark)!?

So cool.
Good call on the low hands observation. There must be something to that! I also love how you can see, in full glory, how Babe gracefully shifts all his weight forward; it’s not simply taking a big step. Last edited by MVSNYC; 01-25-2019 at 04:45 AM. |
