Default PVC in pages?

I recall in the 1980's a scrae of PVC leaching and destroying cards. Does anyone have a definitive answer if pages purchased in 1990 are "better"?

Ive had stuff in pages since the 80's and they are still fine. Theyve also been stored in a humid garage and still good

That scare was around 1980. Any pages made since the early 1980s, and certainly in 1990, will be fine. I have vintage cards that have been in the same pages since about 1993, and they’re fine.

These pages I bougt in 1990, and never used. Now I just opened the bx and putting 1972 Topps set in. Some pages between the slots look to have that oily sheen like when a car drips oil to a wet pavement.

If they are oily or gummy, they will only get worse. I have taken a lot of collections out of the older pages, some of which have cards stuck in, ink bleed from the card to the pages and various other issues. New pages are not the old PVC type.
