Default 1933 Goudey Questions (just added another)

Not particularly important but it made me think. Is #143 the only horizontal card in the set?

Never caught on like T206 horizontals I guess!

No, a quick review shows #112, 119 and 230 are horizontal: Schulte, Hornsby and Hubbell.

Hoyt and Hornsby come to mind for a couple more.

It's not horizontal. He's climbing the ivy to catch the ball.

Here is a recent thread that showed the 239 cards (missing the Lajoie) in the 1933 Goudey set in sheet form (10 sheets) to verify that the mentioned horizontal cards in this thread are the only ones in the set. And it was an informative thread as well.

How about a different Goudey question. What cards are ACTUALLY rookie cards in the set. I see some sites listing players like Gehrig which is dumb, to me anyway, but then I always considered it Dizzy Dean's rookie. Any consensus out there?

I would say yes with "Ole Diz", but then as you know I hardly ever deal in facts.

But I excel at asking questions, such as where was Diz REALLY born? And when? Hmmm.....

Arky Vaughan is the only player that seems to have true rookie card status in the 1933 Goudey set.

There are several other players that I consider to have their first significant 'regular' card as a MLB player in the 1933 Goudey set (excluding supplements, Exhibits...sorry, I still don't recognize Exhibits as 'normal' cards...I'm old school, as well as those silly MLB Die Cut Game things, team issues, extra large issues, pins, etc):

Lefty Gomez
Joe Cronin (both have an US Caramel card, but US Caramel was likely issued in 1933, not 1932 as it has identified by guides and grading companies)

Dizzy Dean
Leo Durocher
Rick Ferrell
Bill Herman
Carl Hubbell

Hey now, just because you may not collect any 1921-30 ML Die-Cuts is no reason to go calling them silly!

I actually do have one, and I would have to check it to confirm, but I believe it is indeed most likely on the silly side.
