Default 2024 Collecting Goals

as 2024 approaches, have your goals changed??
Happy New Years everyone

My 2024 goals:
1. Complete my 1916-20 UNC-big heads set (Bodie,Sisler, Rice)
2. Add some T206 Hofers (Cobbs, Wajo, Matty, Cy & perhaps O'Hara StLouis)
3. If not least, a 33 Goudey Ruth's (prefer Red)

  1. Complete my 1956 Topps Baseball set. I'm down to Banks, the checklists, and some less expensive cards.
  2. Pick up a few T206 HOFers I don/t have.
  3. Get at least one other nice card from the '50s through '70s. It will be an impulse purchase, for sure. I'll know it when I see it. A couple examples from this year's pickups include a Brett rookie and '71 Thurman Munson.

1. Get a T218 Jack Goodman with a Tolstoi back to finish the 632 card master set.

2. Save cash and hope none of my big whales appear

Realistically, just hoping to add a few Pele cards, some team issues, some type 1 photos, some NASCAR and racing cards.

Same wish list every year (didn't make a dent last year)

H815 Adam Hats I don't have yet.

1904 boxing cabinets I don't have yet.

Replacements for Lugosi arcade and weight machine cards I stupidly sold.

And the fantasy list of stuff that may not even exist: signed Exhibit cards of Louis, Marciano, Liston, Sugar Ray Robinson, Kahanamoku, Thorpe

Default 2024 goals

Great topic! In no particular order:

1) Pursue some bucket listers (a CJ Cicotte, T206 rare backs)

2) Continue to build fledgling hockey and soccer collections

3) Find even more net54ers who enjoy the stories behind the cards

Happy New Year!

Brought umbrellas, because I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but this same topic was already covered (not by me) just recently...

My goals are the same as 5-10-20+ years ago...a slew of "who that?" mostly commons (and a few stars) that don't come around too much at a reasonable price.

Thankfully my $$ needs are down to a 1800s Cap Anson and King Kelly (in Chicago uniform). I'm not a hurry in the current market, but if I end up finding the right one or the right price then hurrah.

If I wanted to throw money at everything I want or accept card conditions I'm not a fan of, I could shave off most of the rather modest list right now.

I'm not a hurry to complete anything, though. I'd just find some other collection to build and I've spent so long with my main graded Cubs collection that I still enjoy the hunt even if pickings are thin.
