eBay has been a complete dead zone for me, but I decided to take a chance on these two 'stained' (air quotes) cards, because I'm going to break them out, put the panty hose to 'em and include them in my upcoming SGC submission video.

It's only a tiny bit of gum residue on the fronts, so it'll come off lickety split, and the Mantle HR Leaders card was graded very recently, so it is a true 8. Hopefully SGC will agree. The Rose is more of a risk, considering what it cost me, but let's see what happens...

I think this all happened 9/1 or later...

I had not intended to do so much with "bigger" cards (for me, anyway) so soon after the National - but sometimes you have to strike when the iron is hot with local opportunity. The '57 Brooks was a longtime want, busted out of an older PSA 6 holder. I now have to decide I suppose if I'm going to make an assault on the entire 1957 Topps set, as I find myself unexpectedly with the two biggest cards in it. The '57 Power Hitters is not one of those, but this PSA 4 was a nice upgrade to my raw G/VG-ish one at a show last weekend.

Nice stuff, everyone.

Thanks. Yeah, the '61 Clemente is a sleeper favorite. Love the green in that card. His first batting title season.

As always, putting the rest of us to shame, Mr. Collins. Great stuff!!! Alas (I always really wanted a reason to use the word "alas")...

Default Sorry for the crappy phone pictures

I went to the Philly Show on Friday and added these three cards to my collection. I’m now two steps closer to a ‘56 Topps set and picked up my seventh different base card of Mantle.

Default Upgrade of a 1957 classic.

.There is no such thing as a bad picture of Yogi Berra's face except this out-of-focus grotesquely-registrationed 1957 Topps #407 "Yankees Power Hitters " card. So bad , so bad. ( and to add insult to injury it is soooo hard to find 407 so damned well-centered.)

PS I've always thought Harold Carmichael was movie-star/ male model handsome.

When I was looking for the Mantle/Berra card to complete my 57T set, I never could find one with both players nicely focused. I finally gave up. Funny how so many key cards in vintage Topps sets are like that

I'm taking a bit of poetic licensing here. Only because the Hammer played Pre 1980.

I am happy to have been able to find these commemorative stamps of Hank Aaron.

That is cool. Is it an actual book of stamps or the poster from the Post Office?
