Default Anyone hear of SGC plans to grade on-site at the National?

I'd presume based off of experience of past Nationals and current turnaround times that SGC will likely not grade on-site this year but I guess you never know. I suppose we will be hearing soon.

I am fairly certain they are not, otherwise, they would have announced by now. Par for the course.

They were not set up at the DCS for the 1st time in a long time earlier this month. Whether or not that means anything is not something I can venture a guess about

I contacted sgc to ask if I'll be able drop off a submission to the SGC booth?

The reply was less than satifying. I was told that they "are still finalizing our plans for the National. When our plans are finalized we'll make many announcements on our website and social media platforms."

2 weeks out and they can't confirm if I can drop off a submission at the National????

By the sound of it, it might be the last time we can all say goodbye to them and thanks for the memories.

It could be worse....I hope none of the SGC employees will get pink slips....hopefully they are hired directly by collectors in same rank, pay, and benefits.

Maybe MBA will fill in the space with a very trusted eye for cards in Mike Baker?
At least they will not be affiliated with PSA and think they are up and coming.
We have been tracking their sales for awhile now just not showing up yet on VCP. We are working on that now...

Have one MBA encapsulated card. I do not like that they both encapsulate and then put a sticker on it saying it is strong for the grade. I think that is already built into half grades. So each grade and half grade now has two more grade distinctions?

We are now just a few days out, and still nothing from SGC on their National plans (unless I missed it). I had intended on bringing some cards to drop off to be reholdered, but don't really feel like bringing them to Chicago if they won't even be accepting submissions. I sent an email, but haven't heard back yet... Has anyone heard anything?

I was at a 100+ table card show in Boca Raton today, literally in their backyard and they were not present.

In the end, I've decided to grade my submission with CGC. They're offering on-site grading at reasonable prices. It's a shame that the situation at SGC is what it is.

I think they’re possibly trying to tell people if you want to grade with them at the National just grade with PSA.

I wonder if SGC will be part of the PSA table, like a side business. If so, curious what they will be selling or demonstrating.

Or a sign that says "Gone Fishing". Underneath it states: Please take your cards to PSA for grading.

I have 125 cards that I was about to submit with a friend who has an equal amount to send in and we are not sure it is even a good idea to ship cards to them at this point. Really do not want to send them to PSA. I like what I have seen in CGC holder as well as MBA but not sure either is an option.

If SGC really isn't taking submissions there, give CGC a try.

Handing over your money to a corrupt and incompetent monopoly is the worst thing possible for the hobby (business).

I received this via email this morning:

Thanks for reaching out. We appreciate your support. We will be accepting submissions at the National to bring back to our office to be graded and reholdered.

Please let me know if you have any further questions and I'll be happy to help.

Thanks, that is the first time I am hearing of what they are doing at the National. I hope they didn't make that decision today

Naturally, one wonders what the big secret is that they can't announce this so that people can make plans ? Customer relations = zero

The PR "dept" is too busy posting on IG the latest shiny 10 that they graded.

Clearly they do not care or cannot care if the word gets out so it will be the 114 people who read this thread over the next 2 days prior to the National who will know they can drop off subs. Absolutely stellar.

To anyone submitting, it might be wise to ask if the cards being submitted will be coming back in SGC or PSA holders. I would not assume they get a tux.

If you are going to the National today, can you give a report of the SGC setup there? Are they with PSA or standalone? Taking submissions? What are they promoting/saying?

The cancer that is Collectors/PSA has rampantly spread to SGC. SGC used to have the best customer service and customer relations in the industry (sorry, can't say "hobby" anymore).

Do not support corrupt companies that care nothing about you or fellow collectors. Do not display your beloved cards diagonally in crumpled baggies. Do not pay top-dollar for the worst customer service, highest prices, longest wait-times, and least consistent grading in the industry.

Make PSA the exclusive TPG of Pokemon. They are already 80% of the way there, and really have no business grading vintage sportscards.

They are set up independently in the very back of the show. Not sure what they are saying as I have not approached the booth to talk to people but I'm sure nothing is really being talked about that matters

When I dropped off my reholders yesterday, I asked the supervisor if they had plans to set up again at Philly or Chantilly (or other shows) and he said he didn’t know…

Collectors has effectively muzzled them. Even if they know, they won't tell you. Awesome company/stellar customer service.

I concur -- I paid high PSA value for an SGC 3.5, which was a good deal compared to other copies I saw.

I dropped off some cards Thursday evening, didn't have to wait in line, others were doing the same. They were very helpful and courteous, just as I remember them at previous shows.
